Who They Are

DKN manufacturers a variety of different exercise equipment, not just vibration trainers. They are based out of Europe and are most notable in manufacturing Triplanar machines that are similar to the Power Plates. Triplanar machines are platforms that do not pivot left and right like a teeter-totter. Instead, they vibrate at a higher frequency–typically 20-50 Hz depending on the components, the better they are, the wider the frequency settings. DKN machines are quite sleek and compact for full sized units but do not compromise on the efficacy of any workout. Users focused more on heavy training and muscle building will find these machines to be excellent. Their design moto are good looks, high quality, and industrial applications so the machines are built to last without looking hideous.

DKN V-Power Review

The DKN V-Power was the more compact machine that DKN created that differed significantly from their signature long and narrow base design. It is a very light and not overly powerful machine. The control panels is round with handle bars that curl up, kind of like a recumbent bike. There are 5 programs or “areas” that you change choose, Upper Body, Abdominal, Lower Body, Manual, and Total Body. When you select one of these, the machine changes the frequency settings for you. From our test, it doesn’t really trigger the respective areas so we find these settings to be a bit odd. Frequency settings go from 20-50 Hz and you can choose any frequency in that range in 5 Hz increments. Overall, I find the power to be lacking in this model and find it rather weak at the higher frequency settings.

DKN XG-3 Review

The DKN XG3 is the base model of the XG line of vibration trainers. All XG machines practically uses the same frame except powder coated with different colors to make the products somewhat look different. The three major differences between the XG line are the control panel, the motors, and the springs in the unit. The DKN XG 3 uses softer springs because the greater bounce action helps the lower powered motor achieve a greater displacement (amplitude). Operation is very similar as the V-Power but the G-force on the XG3 is much higher at 6 G vs 3.6 G. The weight capacity is upgraded to 330 lbs using the new XG frame. The XG frame definitely looks a lot sleeker than the V Power. The XG3 will definitely be able to support users in the 200-220 lbs range and allow them to use free weights with the machine. The XG3 is most similar with the Power Plate MY3, and the Tectonic M8.0, with the M8.0 taking the crown at this price range. You can read a more thorough review of the DKN XG3 here.

DKN XG-5 Review

The DKN XG5 is a mid-grade model using the XG frame. Between the XG3 and the XG5, we found that there is very little difference as the motors are virtually identical and the control panel operates almost exactly the same. When we jumped on the platform (about 1 foot in the air), we didn’t notice the difference in the spring bounce level, both machines felt the same. The only key difference that we noticed is the dark graphite powder coat of the unit compared to a darker silver coat on the XG3. Otherwise, I’d say stick with the XG3 if you decide on purchasing and save yourself some money. Update: DKN is discontinuing the DKN XG3 and will be replacing the XG line with only 2 machines: the XG5 and the XG10 Pro

DKN XG-10 Pro Review

The top unit of the XG line. The DKN XG 10 Pro has a very nice 3D graphical display that demonstrates visually the different exercises that you can copy and perform when you select one of the 12 preset programs for your workout. This makes it a lot easier for users to follow and especially newer users in how to properly use the vibration trainer. The motors in the XG10 pro are much stronger than the previous models and because of this, the springs used in the platform base is made a bit stiffer. There are 7 frequency settings, from 20-50 Hz in 5 Hz increments. It is quite sufficient for most users. The platform is reasonably sized in terms of the width (23″) and unless you wear size 13 or greater, you shouldn’t run off the 13″ depth of the platform. The XG10 Pro will be most comparable to the Power Plate MY 8 save for the smaller platform size and the 10.1″ display.
